For the last four weeks I have been experimenting with my layouts in my Traveler’s Notebook in order to get a balance between pretty and functionality for my weekly spreads. And I think I’ve nailed it.
Okay. Looking back at this first week now – I’m not the biggest fan. And that’s nothing to do w
ith the kit. I love the kit. It’s just since then I’ve found a better way to use my stickers in a more productive way. I always knew there would be an adjustment period. My last planner was completely different.
1. It was a horizontal layout.
2. There was a lot less space.
And 3. It was spiral bound.
The two planners were just very different and made for different purposes. Which is the great thing about planners and planning style as there is so many options out there so everyone is able to choose what works best for them. Saying that from this very first week, I already felt this planner was a better fit for me.
In this second week, I started to find my feet. I took it upon myself to alter the layout of the inserts I had bought. There just wasn’t enough space for me to include everything I wanted and needed to. Coming from a smaller planner anyway, I knew I wanted to be able to include more stickers in my new planner and the inserts I purchased just didn’t fit in with that. My fault. But this was an easy fix. I found a new love in Tip-ex. All I needed to was white out the black`lines in the right hand corner and place my stickers in an Erin Condoner style.
I used a kit from Strawberry Lime Designs – a new shop to me. I was very impressed. I think trying a new shop being a new planner was the way to go as I was able to try something completely different. I think that’s where I went wrong with the week before was as I tried to copy my old planning style over into my planner which didn’t work. I have another one of her kits coming up very soon and another in the mail.
This week I felt the most confident in my new planner. I really enjoyed being able to use of more full boxes. And this was the perfect week to do so. I loved the way this week turned out. It was exactly what I had in mind for my new planner. This was another new to me shop – Simply a Mess. Again a thumbs up from me. I have come to the conclusion the vertical layout is for me. I always used vertical planners in the past until the Unique Planner by Pirongs and I didn’t know how much I missed it until now.
4 weeks. 4 spreads. I have to say there’s no turning back. And what a way to end my first month in my Traveler’s Notebook – this spread will have to be favourite yet. The second week in a row using a kit from Simply A Mess. I can’t wait to order from her again. I have my eye on her winter kits for January. I’ve already planned out all my kits until the New Year now.
I couldn’t be more happier with the way each week turned out for the month of October. I love my Traveler’s Notebook as well as the new shops I’ve tried this month. As much as I loved all the Autumn/ Halloween spreads I used. I’m so excited for the run up to Christmas kits. Another couple more weeks and then it’s time. On to another month in my new planner. I won’t be able to say ‘New planner’ for much longer haha.
